Born Jan 1826 and Baptised 5Feb 1826 @ Woodchester P.C., Stroud, Gloucestershire, England. He stole food to obtain money to feed his siblings. Arrested, convicted and transported to the Penal Colony in Van Dieman's Land (Tasmania)for 7 years. Once freed he married 3 times and had One son born 23.06.1875 at Lyndoch, Gawler, South Australia. from which the Australian line descends Cornelius died 1906 aged 80 at Wentworth, New South Wales, Australia.

Second son of 3 Sons and 1 Daughter of James Dow and Ann Shears of Woodchester near Stroud Gloucestershire. [Both deceased at time of his sentence (his second)]. His descendants now live in Bendigo. The rest of the family's descendants still live in Gloucestershire and many emigrated to and settled in Canada.
