MARTHA DOWLING and ANN SULLIVAN were indicted for stealing, on the 25th of January , three hearth rugs, value 30 s., and ten yards of flannel, value 5 s., the goods of William Baldey and John William Marriott , privately in their shop .

According to the 1828 census for NSW, Martha was 38 years old and "Free by Servitude" coming here on the "Mary" in 1823 Also living with her were Mary Ann DOWLING. 7 years Came Free aboard "Mary" 1823 and William DOWLING 3 years Born In The Colony. There is also an Elizabeth DOWLING 11 years old who "Came Free" aboard "Mary" 1823 This Elizabeth could be the woman who went on to marry Thomas NIXON (tailor)in 1842 who was also a convict.
