Old Bailey: JAMES DOWTON. Theft: animal theft. 12th April 1820 Verdict Guilty Sentence Transportation JAMES DOWTON was indicted for stealing, on the 10th of February, six tame ducks, price 12 s.; one tame drake, price 2 s.; four tame geese, price 14 s., and one tame gander, price 5 s., the property of James Morris. GUILTY . Aged 20. Transported for Seven Years. Colonial Secretary Index: DOWDEN, James 1822 Jan 28: Attached to Longbottom. On return of proceedings of the Bench of Magistrates, Parramatta (Fiche 3297; X643 p.2b) DOWDEN, James. Per "Hebe", 1820; bushranger 1822 Jun 1-18: Sentenced to death.
