Convict Notes

William Doyle - 8 February 1836 - Hanged at Sydney for the murder of John Molloy near Mount York. The Sydney Gazette and New South Wales Advertiser. Tue 9 Feb 1836. Page 3. OIL AND EXECUTION.- Yesterday at the usual hour, William Doyle, for the murder of John Molloy, an old shepherd at Bathurst; and Thomas Arndell and Edward Jones, for the murder of Mrs. Fitzpatrick, at Bathurst, suffered the extreme penalty of the law. Doyle and Arndell were attended by the Rev. Mr. McEnroe, and Jones by the Rev. Mr. Cowper. The culprits appeared sensibly effected at their awful situation ; and Jones confessed his guilt, and stated that finding Mrs. Fitzpatrick, too strong for him he had recourse to his knife to complete the murder. After the usual time for preparation, the culprits ascended the scaffold, and were launched into eternity in the presence of the goal inmates and a large assembly who attended to witness the execution. ++++++++++
