The following could refer to this man. John McDonald, Samuel Drew, and Wm. Jones, all "lifers," for imbibing spiritual comforts in a sly grog shop, and not at St. James's Church, where they ought to have been. The first, 25 lashes, being an overseer, who should have set a better example, the others three days each to the tread mill. The Australian, 11 Nov 1829.

CORNWALL ASSIZES. The following is a correct Calender of the Prisoners who are to be tried at the Lent Assizes for this County, to be holden at Launceston, on Monday the 25th instant, — Samuel Drew, aged 18, and Peter Drew, aged 13, charged with stealing from the dwelling house of John Thomas, in the day-time, certain notes of the value of Sixty Pounds. Royal Cornwall Gazette, 16 Mar 1816. The following were the Sentences of the Prisoners : — Samuel Drew and Peter Drew, for a Burglary and robbery in the house of John Thomas; and William Mallett the younger, for a burglary in the house of Henry Plint, received Sentence of Death.
