From his Indent on Ancestry: Michael Duff was listed as 25 years old on arrival. He was single, native place: London, listed as a silk weaver and transported for Highway robbery. Michael was 5'4¾" tall, ruddy and freckled complexion, red hair, hazel eyes, small scar at top of forehead left side. Assigned to Jonas Beasley, Windsor. 1840: TOL Goulburn 1843: TOL Queanbeyan 10/7/1848: CP

Convicted for Violet theft of money from Mr Thomas Turpin on 8th August 1829. Sentenced to death but commuted to Life. Pardoned 10 July 1848. Married Rosetta (Rose) Hughes (d 31/12/1857) in 1846 at Bungonia, Goulburn. Married Elizabeth (Eliza) Dudley nee Mehegan 30 October 1860 at Christ Church. First wedding in newly completed Church of England Church, Christ Church, Queanbeyan (Reference: wedding register and Golden Age Sat. 3 November 1860.) Also saw Lapidary as occupation in official records.
