A Peter Duff left Tasmania, from George Town bound for Adelaide on the ship 'William' 06/1/1845. Same person as this Peter? (Tas Archive ref. CSO95/1/1 p296)

Peter Duff was convicted at Edinburgh 16/03/1825 for stealing woollen cloth. Previously convicted and gaoled. Had been involved in petty crime since a child. Parents stated to be "suspicious". Life sentence. Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) on the 'Woodman' arriving May 1826. Aged 17yrs; watchmaker's boy. Native place of birth: Edinburgh, Scotland. Assignments in Colony. 1830 - Field Police. 1832 - Ticket of Leave. Revoked when he was under suspicion of robbery. Assigned to hard labour on road parties. Conditional Pardon 22/06/1838. Understood to have left Tasmania to settle in Victoria.
