Catherine Duffy convict off the Edward 1829, seems to have 3 husbands according to State Archives, NSW BDM and other sites. So choose between: 1. Alexander Walsh off Earl St Vincent 1823. 2. Robert Allen off Bengal Merchant 1838. 3. George Newson off the good ship Mary 1822....

Catherine/Catharine Duffy (Duffey) was convicted at Monaghan on 17/03/1828 for stealing liquor. 7yr sentence. Transported to NSW, Australia on the 'Edward' 1829. Aged 16yrs; nursegirl; single; native place - Monaghan. Assigned to John Liscombe on arrival. 05/03/1831 - 3yrs penal settlement for mutinous and riotous conduct. Newcastle gaol. Sent on to private service of J. McDonough. 18/10/1831 - harboured a bushranger. Discharged to A. Walsh, to be married. 25/10/1831 - application for permission to marry Alexander Walsh. Married Alexander Walsh (aged 40yrs) at Maitland, New South Wales (Catherine aged 18yrs).
