Mary Duffy was transported on the Margaret, departing 30th Apr 1840 and arriving 18th Aug 1840 with 78 passengers.
Built 1829 at Chepstow. 365 tons. Female prisoners were transported to New South Wales on the 'Margaret' in 1837, 1839 and 1840. The 'Margaret' was the last convict ship to transport female prisoners to New South Wales. Another voyage to Van Diemen's Land in 1843. The 1840 sailing also carried 17 free female passengers and one male. The registers of persons is not yet complete on this web site, so please note this if researching. (A work in progress.)

DOB, 1810, Native place, Down Co. Married, husband Patrick Duffy convict arrived per Augusta Jessie in 1840 (no record). Catholic. Servant general & maid dairy. Spouse: Patrick Duffy.




Absconded. Mary Duffy, Margaret, 33, County of Down, general servant, 5 feet 3 ½ inches, fair ruddy and freckled comp., brown hair, grey eyes, mole 6n left cheek bone, mark of a bile on left elbow, supposed to be in the District of Bathurst, from Charles Henry Chambers of Balmain, since 29th February, 1844. NSW Govt Gazette, 16 Feb 1849.
