Family connections for Michael (Dunn) are: DUNN Michael (Dunn) was born about 1769. He was tried w/1other for shoplifting handkerchiefs etc of Mrs (Davis) at Chelmsford Assizes Essex on 9 3 1789, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 9 7 1791 after a voyage of 6months on Fleet ship WILLIAM AND ANN. He was granted 30acres in 1792. He was Free by Servitude by 1797 & had a relationship with Ann (Banks). He was recorded in 1800 with his family with 10acres cultivated at Ponds. He was an emancipist living at Clarence St when he died on 8 3 1829 age about60 & was buried as a Chelsea Pensioner (how come?) at St James CofE Cumberland Sydney. [Some details taken from this Website] [Noted a Michael (Dunn convict ALBERMARLE 1791) is recorded as dying on 5 9 1792 & buried at St Phillips CofE Sydney] Ann (Banks) was born about 1765. She was tried for house breaking & stealing a callimanco gown at Old Bailey, sentenced to 7years, held at Middlesex Gaol Delivery & arrived in NSW as a convict on 17 10 1794 after a voyage of 8.5months on SURPRISE. She was recorded in 1800 with her family at Ponds. She died in 1825 age60 at Benevolent Asylum Sydney & was buried on 8 11 1825 at St James Cumberland CofE (St James CofE Sydney?)-not shown in Smees records. She was recorded in 1800 with her parents at Ponds. She died on 9 6 1860 age63 at Luddenham mother of 7children. ..Francis (Walker) was born about 1790/95, perhaps in Worcestershire, & became a ploughman/shearer. He was tried for horse theft at Hereford Summer Assizes Herefordshire on 10 8 1816, sentenced to death reprieved to Life, held on hulk JUSTITIA at Woolwich London from 10 2 1817 & arrived in NSW as a convict on 30 9 1817 after a voyage of 6months on LORD ELDON; he was Protestant. He was assigned to John (Blaxland). He was recorded as a labourer in about 1820. While still with John (Blaxland) in 1822 he was fined for allowing a bushranger to bake a cake. He was recorded as still with John (Blaxland) at Bringelly when issued his Ticket of Leave on 27 10 1825; he had dark sallow complexion black hair brown eyes. He was recorded in 1828 with his family as labourer at Luddenham Bringelly. He was issued his Conditional Pardon no.348 on 15 10 1834. He married secondly Sarah (Taylor) in 1860 at Penrith. Crime - Michael Dunn & John Jaques stole 7 silk handkerchiefs & 1 jar of jam, the property of the said Mrs Davis. Ref: Trial Notes ========== Voyage - "William & Ann" 3rd Fleet. Arrived NSW 28 August 1791. Ref: Burial Record. ========== Governor Phillip granted Michael Dunn 30 acres of land for cultivation in 1792. He made an informal partnership with fellow convict Ann Banks (Surprize 2 1794)and their daughter, Jane, was born 15/3/1797. 1800 - Michael Dunn, 4 pigs, 5 acres of wheat sown, 5 acres of maize to be planted. Self, 1 woman & 1 child off stores. Situated at Ponds. Ref: Settlers Muster Book. ========== Burial - Michael Dunn. Abode Clarence Street. Buried 8th March 1829. Age 60. Ship "William & Ann". Profession Chelsea Pensioner. Performed by Richard Hill. Ref: Burials in the Parish of Saint James, in the County of Cumberland. In the year 1829. CJV 1829 1244. 13. At his burial Michael Dunn's ship of arrival was identified as the "William & Ann"
