Convict Notes




Michael Dunn, aged fourteen years, for picking a pocket of a handkerchief, was, the present being his sixth offence, sentenced to be transported for seven years. On hearing his sentence, the hardened urchin exclaimed, Thank God ! I am going now; I could not be sent out at a better time. Freeman’s Journal, 1 June 1842.
