William DUNN was convicted at Co. Down, Ireland on 5 April 1845 for stealing a box of eggs. Previous offence for stealing fowls. 10 yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the ship 'Ratcliffe' arriving 1845. Ship Surgeon's Report: "quiet". Married man, 2 children. Aged 21 yrs; linen weaver; Protestant; Native place of birth: Co. Down, Ireland. Sister - Margaret Wife - Christine (or Christina) VDL: 18 months Probation Period. Station Gang - Port Esperance. 29 Dec 1855: Certificate of Freedom, at Fingal, VDL.
