Benjamin Durrant was 44 years old when convicted of stealing a frock and books. Goal Report: Very bad~transported in 1825 for stealing clothes, 7 years, served 4 years and 3 months at Gosport. Surgeons Report: Very worthless fellow. Benjamin was married with wife Lydia and 3 children at Brighton. Benjamin had light grey eyes, brown to grey hair, 5'2 1/2" tall. 11/4/1834: Absconded and apprehended. 13/5/1834:Hobart Town Police Report: Benjamin Durrant, for absenting himself from his duty, and making away with a pair of shoes, his master's property, was ordered to Nottman's road party for twelve months. Many more indiscretions on his conduct record. 15/10/1843: TOL 7/11/1868: Benjamin died at Port Arthur (could not find anything on how he got there).
