John DWYER was convicted at Middlesex Gaol, London on 16 Sept 1830 for burglary - break and enter a dwelling house and steal. Guilty, death, commuted to Life sentence. Transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the ship 'Argyle' arriving 5 Aug 1831. Single man; aged 18yrs; house servant. Native place of birth - Co. Limerick, Ireland. Colony of Van Diemen's Land: Assigned to work. Several records of misconduct and subsequent punishments. 1834: Misconduct. Imprisoned at Ross, for 3 yrs. Chain Gang. 13 July 1841: Ticket of Leave granted. July 1845: Conditional Pardon approved.
