Michael Dwyer and John Mara, were convicted of stealing a quantity of plate, including twelve silver forks and eight table spoons, from the house of John Falkner, Esq. the 5th June last.—Sentence of Death recorded. It appeared that Mara had been a servant in the house, with which he was well acquainted, and had perpetrated the robbery in company with .the prisoner, Dwyer, and a third person, their footsteps having been found outside under the window. The plate was found in the possession of Mara, in Clonmel, through the activity of Constable William Mathew. His Lordship, when ordering sentence of death to be recorded, told the prisoners that could not promise them any commutation of the sentence but the robbery was not attended by any act of atrocity or barbarity, he would represent so  favourable circumstance in the proper quarter, and it prove successful, the sentence of death would be only changed into that of perpetual banishment. Tipperary Free Press, 22 Aug 1827.
