After viewing documents that relate to this Joseph Dyson this is not my great great grandfather because he is still in Tasmania when he's suppose to be in Wangaratta Victoria 1857 so definitely not him




Conduct Record details: Joseph Dyson convicted York, West Riding 08/07/1835 for stealing silver spoons, shirts etc. 7yr transportation sentence. Gaol Report: bad disposition, associated with thieves. Previous convictions. Also charged with this offence was E. Turner, also convicted and transported on this ship. Ship Surgeon's Report: good 1836: Single man; aged 22yrs; Native Place - Sheffield; labourer & cutter; 5'3 1/2"; fresh complexion; dk brown hair; lt brown eyes (deep set). Assignments in VDL: 1840: Launceston 1841: Campbell Town Ticket of Leave 20/07/1840 Conditional Pardon 26/08/1841 No. 3190 * There is a departure record for a Joseph Dyson on the 'Jane & Emma' on 15/01/1845, departing George Town for Adelaide. (ref. CSO95/1/1) (There is no indication if this is this Joseph and there were other Joseph Dyson's living in VDL at the time.)

Joesph Dyson married Mary Jane Swinburne 1858 Wangaratta, Victoria, Australia.she arrived in the port of Geelong 19 Aug 1857 aged 25 aboard the Echunga.Joesph was born in Kirkby,Yorkshire 1820 and died 1906 Carlton,Victoria,Australia his parents were George Dyson and Mary Briggs he is buried Carlton Cemetry
