OCT. 23. - Arrived the barque Kinnear, Lidderdale master, from Dublin 10th July, with 180 male prisoners, Surgeon Superintendent - G. J. Fox, Esq. The guard consists of Captain Bull (with Mrs. Bull, 4 children, and 1 female servant), and 30 rank and file of the 99th Regt., - 4 women, and 6 children. Colonial Times (Hobart) 25 Oct 1842.

Tasmanian Indents for Kinnear. https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON15-1-5$init=CON15-1-5p18 and Mary Early, Tried Galway Co. 4 Jan 1848, 7 years. Age 35. height 5ft 3 ½. Catholic, can neither read nor write, Widow, 1 boy. Offence: Sheep Stg. Pro John McDarnock. 2 months for oat meal, 3 months for 2/6. Surgeon’s Report: Good. Trade, Country servant. Native place, Co, Galway. Remarks: My husband has been dead about 1 year. Bro, Peter, Thos & Martin. Sis, Biddy.




Contibuted by Susan Maxfield: Mary was a widow when convicted (not sure if Early was her married name or maiden name) and had a male child on the Kinnear with her. Tasmanian Archives record: Twice convicted before (oatmeal & money). Had been widowed about a year. 1 child. Country farm servant; aged 35 yrs; 5'3 1/2"; freckled complexion; brown hair; grey eyes. Native place - Galway, Ireland. Probation period: Anson Clear conduct record Assigned at Ross, Launceston, Morven (Evandale) Ticket of Leave 09/11/1852 Ticket Revoked 25/10/1853 Mary was granted permission to marry John Parker ref: 739/1851 30/03/1851 Launceston. (Her age is stated as 26yrs.)




She married John Parker (Free Man)in 1851 and died in Latrobe Tasmania she had 4 other children Ernest, Maryanne, Laurence and John
