Medical Journal of the Pyramus, convict ship, from 2 Sept 1831 to 156 Mar 1832, by James Rutherford, surgeon and superintendent, during which time the ship was employed in transporting female convicts to New South Wales. (Described at item level) ADM 101/62/4/1 1831-1832 Folios 1-4: copy of the sick list covering the period from 16 September 1831 to 16 March 1832. Folios 2, 24-25: Mary East, aged 20, convict; sick or hurt, cynanche; put on sick list 11 November 1831, discharged 24 December 1831 to her berth.
old Bailey Online 1492. MARY EAST was indicted for stealing, on the 29th of May , 1 half-sovereign, 1 crown, and 3 shillings, the monies of Richard Samuel Brooks , from his person . RICHARD SAMUEL BROOKS . I am a compositor , and live in Platt-terrace, Somers'-town. On the morning of the 29th of May, between two and three o'clock, I met the prisoner in Holborn, and went with her to a house in West-street - I was in the room about half an hour; she put her hand into my left side waistcoat pocket, and took out my money - I had a half-sovereign, a 5s. piece, and three shillings, which were all safe when I went into the house; I charged her with it, she denied it, and put on her bonnet to leave the room - I followed, called the Police, and she was taken. Prisoner. You know you gave me the money; and often asked me to live with you. Witness. I never saw her before. PETER MCINTYRE . I am a Policeman. I heard an alarm, and took the prisoner in West-street - I searched her at the station, and two shillings dropped from her hair- I searched further, and a 5s. piece dropped, and on the top of her hair I found a half-sovereign and a shilling; the prosecutor told me what I should find. GUILTY . Aged 20. - Transported for Seven Years
