2/4/1831 Morning Advertiser London, England: ASSIZE INTELLIGENCE, KINGSTON, FRIDAY, APRIL 1. Daring Burglary. William Andrews, aged 19, and Joseph Easton, 21, a Waterman, were indicted for Feloniously breaking and entering the dwelling-house of George Wilson, in Kinnington-road, and stealing therein diamonds and jewellers, to the value of 500l., and Charlotte Dean, was indicted for receiving the same property, knowing it to have been stolen. The jury returned a verdict of guilty against all the prisoners. Deans was then sentenced to be transported for 14 years. Sentence was not passed on the male prisoners. Charlotte Dean (Pyramus 1832 NSW) had been living as man and wife with Joseph Easton. 20/7/1832 The Tasmanian, Hobart Town: Joseph Easton stood charged with stealing, on board the ship Lindsays, on Monday last, two red baize shirts, the property of two sea- men of that vessel. It appeared from the evidence, that the prisoner was one of the boat's crew, assigned to Mr. Aldridge, the pilot, and in-such capacity had access to the ship, when he took an opportunity of purloining the articles from the place where they had been placed (with others) to dry. Verdict—Guilty. Sentenced to be kept to hard labor for: 12 calendar months. 27/12/1833: Absconded 28/1/1834 Colonial Times, Hobart: Joseph Easton and William Williams, charged with striking and wounding, with intent to murder Richard Cloake. Sentenced to be hanged. Found no further reference to his hanging. 2 other Joseph Easton's in VDL at the same time.
