The Patriot Convict Indentures state that William Eastwood was 21 years old. He could read; religion Protestant; status single and a native of Blackburne (Spelling on Indentures), Lancashire. His trade was farm labourer, groom and soldier in 35 Regiment. He was convicted of refusing to undergo a sentence of 12 months hard labourer on bread and water at Mauritius General Court Martial on 20 September 1837 and convicted to 14 years transportation. He had prior convictions for which he served 14 days, 20 days cells, 14 days cells and 4 other punishments. Physical attributes - Height 5 feet 5 1/2 inches; complexion fair ruddy and a little freckled; hair brown and eyes hazel. Transport number: 8. Prisoner number 38-205.
