Born at Mousewald, Dumfriesshire to parents George and Helen/Ellen (nee Wilson) who later moved to New Abbey. Edgar family were millers at nearby Woodside Mill for generations.
Born circa 1815/16 at New Abbey near Dumfries. Assigned to T A Murray at Goulburn. Received Certificate of Freedom on 16th October 1841. Married Elizabeth (known as Margaret) Willis on 14th November, 1841 at St. Andrews Church Sydney. Children - Ellen b. 1843. Susan b. 1844 (Sydney) Isabella b. 1848 (Bathurst).Margaret b. 1851 (Bathurst). William b. 1855 (Orange).Thomas b. 1858 (Orange). William died 24th June 1889 at Toogong, NSW. Listed as engineer on certificates.
