John Edmonds was transported on the Surrey Or Surry, departing 9th Apr 1834 and arriving 17th Aug 1834 with 262 passengers.

Built at Harwich in 1811 a square-rigged transport ship of 443 tons and copper lined she had two decks with a height between decks of 5 ft. 8 ins. In 1818, she had a major refit increasing the decks (and convict carrying capacity) to three. She was owned by the London firm of F. & C.F. Mangles.

JOHN EDMONDS, Theft > simple larceny, 20th February 1834. 495. JOHN EDMONDS was indicted for stealing, on the 17th of February , 1 brass fender, value 1l. , the goods of John James Rippon . FRANCIS WILLIAM STEBBINGS . I am shopman to Mr. John James Rippon, of Castle-street, Oxford-street - on the 17th of February I was at home in the evening - I received information, went out, and saw the prisoner walking away with the fender on his shoulder - this is it; it is my employer's - I had seen it safe ten minutes before in the shop- I took him with it. Prisoner. I was standing talking to a young man; and when I left him a man asked me to carry the fender - he took it from the door and gave it to me. GUILTY . Aged 19. - Transported for Seven Years . Date of birth calculated from age at trial- 1815.
