Tasmanian Conduct record https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON31-1-11$init=CON31-1-11p118 Convicted at the Old Bailey (online) WILLIAM EDWARDS, Theft > simple larceny, 15th April 1830. 810. WILLIAM EDWARDS was indicted for stealing, on the 8th of March , 1 coat, value 1l.; 1 pair of trousers, value 15s., and 2 waistcoats, value 8s. , the goods of John Bishop . SOPHIA BISHOP . I am the wife of John Bishop, and live in John-street, Curtain-road . On the 8th of March I was down stairs and had occasion to go out - as I returned I heard a noise in my front bed-room over head; I knew the street door was open - I went and shut it; I sat down again in my chair, and heard some person going out - I went and saw the prisoner with these clothes under his arm, which had been in a wardrobe up stairs; I took hold of him, and called a neighbour who took him from me. RICHARD SPURGEON . I live opposite Bishop - I heard her call, and ran and took the prisoner; the things were then on the step of the door. GUILTY . Aged 21. - Transported for Seven Years .
