Louisa ELDRIGE, together with Elizabeth LAYTON, were convicted at CCC, London on 12 June 1843 for highway robbery with violence. Both sentenced to 15 yr transportation. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the 'Woodbridge' arriving 25 Dec 1843. Single woman; aged 18yrs; housemaid; 4'9 3/4"; several tattoos; can read; Church of England. Native place of birth: Lambeth Father: David Sisters: Maria, Ann & Mary Brother: David Work services and times at the Female Factories Hobart and Launceston. April 1847: Application for permission to marry. Louisa Eldridge (per Woodbridge)to William Murray (per London). Ref. 52/1/2 20 April 1847: Marriage, at St. John's Church, Launceston. Louisa Eldridge, age 20, prisoner, single woman to William MURRAY, age 30, prisoner, shoemaker, single man. (ref. 37/1/6 no. 1119) 18 Dec 1847: male child Thomas ELDRIDGE born at Launceston. Father's name not recorded. Mother - Louisa Eldridge. (ref. 33/1/23 no. 1911) 15 April 1851: Ticket of Leave granted. 1 Aug 1854: Conditional Pardon approved.
