Elisha HALE was convicted at Gloucester 2 July 1844 for stealing sheep. Previous conviction. 10 yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the "William Jardine" Nov 1844. Aged 36yrs; labourer; 5'10 1/2"; Protestant; can read & write a little; married man, wife Sarah & 3 children. Native Place - near Mitcheldean Father: John Sister: Anne Brother: Eli, Matthew, Daniel, George, Assigned to work service in the Colony. 18mths Probation Period. Rocky Hill Gang. 20 Nov 1849: Ticket of Leave granted. 28 Apr 1852: Conditional Pardon approved. 10 July 1854: Certificate of Freedom. 1856: Marriage to Mary Ann CASSIDY (transported per 'Blackfriar' 1851).
