The Convict Indentures state that Eliza Dougherty was 20 years old. She could not read or write; religion Roman Catholic; status single and a native of Londonderry. Eliza was convicted of vagrancy at Londonderry on 24 July 1837 and sentenced to 7 years transportation. She had no prior convictions. Physical attributes: Height 5 feet 1 inches; complexion dark ruddy and freckled; hair brown and eyes hazel grey. Transport number 89. Prisoner number 88-38. Comment on indenture entry states that 'Husband James Alexander assigned to Mr McLeay. Received Certificate of Freedom in 1845 (45/876).
