Old Bailey: ELIZABETH FOSTER, MARY HOLLAND. Theft: pocketpicking. 4th July 1833 Verdict Guilty; Guilty Sentence Transportation ELIZABETH FOSTER and MARY HOLLAND were indicted for stealing, on the 20th of May, 1 purse, value 1d.; 4 sovereigns; 1 half-sovereign; 2 half-crowns; 5 shillings; 6 sixpences, and 1 piece of foreign coin, value 5d., of Lorenzo Ronchetti, from his person. Foster's Defence. I was going down Stonecutter-street, to go home, and the prosecutor caught me and said, I had robbed him - I had not seen my fellow-prisoner all the night, nor the day before - she can say the same. Holland's Defence. I never saw this young woman, nor the prosecutor, till I got to the watch-house. FOSTER - GUILTY. Aged 20. HOLLAND - GUILTY. Aged 28. Transported for Seven Years. Mary Holland was also on board - she died 7/6/1834. 16/12/1834: Newcastle - Servant from London. Admitted to Newcastle gaol from Maitland under sentence of 14 days in the cells. Returned to lher mistress 6 February. 16/5/1835: Newcastle gaol - Admitted to Newcastle gaol 16th May under sentence of 21 days solitary confinement and then returned to her mistress. Returned to her mistress 8th June. 27/6/1835: Newcastle gaol - Admitted to Newcastle gaol from Maitland under sentence of 4 months in the gaol. Assigned to Mrs. Moore at Newcastle 24 November. 4/3/1836: Newcastle - Assigned to Mrs. Moore. to be returned to govt. Mrs. Moore being considered an unfit person to have an assigned servant. 23/4/1836: Application to marry Thomas Clifton. Allowed. She is 22. No record of marriage on NSW BDM. 1839: TOL 17/7/1841: COF
