On this voyage the "Hope" had 139 female prisoners,7 settlers, and 44 children Also Ellen got her certificate of freedom 4/6/1849. Further study shows that there is no actual record of Jeremiah and Ellen going to the mainland with John and Ellen. In fact the record simply shows John and Ellen.

Height 4 feet 10 inches.Transported on "Hope",1842,arriv. Van Diemens Land 17/8/1842.Convict # 194.Went to Cascades female factory prison.Good friend of Ellen Sweeney, fellow convict,#407,who was also on the "Hope" The two Ellens got T.O.L. to marry. They married two freed convicts,John and Jeremiah Dale.Ellen Talbot to Jeremiah. It was a double wedding at C.of E.,Battery Point,Hobart,on 8/9/1845.John and the other Ellen cleared off to the mainland, after a few more years. It is not absolutely clear whether Ellen and Jeremiah went with them or remained or what.Family legend(Ellen Sweeney is the great great grandmother of my wife, born 1946) has it that Jeremiah and Ellen went with John and Elleen, changed their names and disappeared from records known to us.However their is a death certificate indicating one of them died in Tasmania.Indicating.I know nothing more of factual data.
