Convict Notes

AUSTRALIAN CONVICT REGISTERS Protestant, can read and write tried at Salford Sessions Stealing £8 from Richard Will??? or Wickham ?? according to the register in Australia 9 mos 6 mos both for money Court pardon 11/01/1853 She applied for permission to marry John Nelson 24 Apr 1849, on 6 Mar 1853 she sailed to Melbourne under a conditional pardon. BRITISH CRIMINAL REGISTER - FMP BRITISH TRANSPORTATION REGISTER - FMP Tried at Salford Sessions 30 Aug 1874 Born about 1825 therefore on 1841 census she should be about 16. I found her marriage in Tasmania to James Wilson in 1849 aged 23. I cannot find her for certain in the census nor her sister Alice though of course Alice may be under a married name or not even born yet. I did find this earlier in the week but am unsure if it's the right Emma because she should be 16 not 9 or Alice not even born yet so I dismissed however MaryA thinks this might be the right one. She is in the 1841 census living at Barracks, Worsley, Eccles, Manchester with James 45, a weaver, Elizabeth 40, Mary 20, Edward 15, James 14, Emma 9 and Elizabeth 3. (attached from FMP) Cannot find either birth of Emma or Alice in the IGI or the LAN OPC I found a newspaper clipping relating to her crime and being transported for 7 years. Stole a sovereign from Richard Smith, so I don't know where that other name comes from, unless it was another crime. (attached) Kat from Liverpool FHS found the other criminal record for Emma on Ancestry.

Twice previously convicted.
