Family connections for Ann (Epton) are: EPTON/UPTON Ann (Epton later Upton) was born in Anderby in about 1783. She was tried for petty larceny of clothing at Lindsey Quarter Sessions Lincolnshire, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 11 4 1806 after a voyage of 9months on WILLIAM PITT; where she was assigned to Samuel (Pugh). She married firstly George (Ham his first relationship) Free by Servitude on 15 9 1806 at St Phillips CofE Sydney & produced maybe 5children. She was Free by Servitude by 1816. In 1823 she is recorded as housekeeper to James (Duff) at Jerrys Plains.>>> [Some details taken from this Website] George (Ham) was born about 1770 & became a miner. He was tried for violent highway robbery w/1other of John (Cossal), on 22 12 1798. stealing money at Old Bailey on 9 1 1799, sentenced to death commuted to Life, held at Middlesex Gaol Delivery & arrived in NSW as a convict on 20 11 1800 after a voyage of 8months on ROYAL ADMIRAL. He was Free by Servitude by 1806. He was living at Hawkesbury in 1810. He separated from Ann after 1816, then lived with Elizabeth (Leith her first relationship) & they are recorded in 1822 as living at Baulkham Hills. She died in 1864 age81 mother of perhaps 10children at Patricks Plains. [James (Edwards) was born in 1807 in Derbyshire & became a farm servant. He was tried for horse theft at Stafford Assizes, sentenced to Life & arrived in NSW on 3 1 1828 after a journey of 5months on FLORENTIA; he was Protestant could read & write 5'7" ruddy complexion dark brown hair brown eyes left wrist out of joint 24 letters on chest. He worked also for James (Duff) at Jerrys Plains. He was issued his Ticket of Leave for Merton on 3 5 1836 & again in 1839. In 1841 he was living at Gregg/Greigs Creek Merton & married secondly (2of3) his stepdaughter Frances (Carter nee Ham her second marriage)-see just below. He was issued his Conditional Pardon on 1 10 1842. He had a third relationship with (possibly) Sarah (Butler) at Broke. Ann Epton was convicted for stealing items of clothing. She was born at Anderby. On arrival she was assigned to Samuel Pugh, a constable in Sydney. Here for only 4 months she married George Ham (per Royal Admiral 1800). George and Ann parted after 1816. In 1823 she became Housekeeper to James Duff at Jerry's Plains. In 1837 she married James Edwards (Florentia 1827) although she was 25 years older than him. He later married (or 1 report says they did'nt marry) her daughter with George Ham, Frances. Ann died in 1864 aged 81 at Patrick Plains.
