1829 - Waterloo's first voyage arrived at Sydney Cove 9 July 1829. 180 Male Convicts. 2 Died on voyage. 7 sent to the hospital on landing. Total mustered; 171. Stephen Addison - Commander Michael Goodsire - Surgeon Superintendent [His wife was a passenger] 1842 - The Waterloo voyage of 1842 was wrecked on 28/8/1842. 189 people drowned, these being 143 convicts, 15 men of the 99th Regiment, together with 17 wives and children, the boatswain Mr. Chiverton, the sailmaker, the carpenter and 11 of the crew. Convicts were then received in Cape Town Prison from the wreck of the Waterloo, 2nd September 1842. They then completed their voyage to VDL per “Cape Packet” which arrived on 23/11/1842.

National Records of Scotland Trial papers relating to Robert Esson for the crime of cattle-stealing and horse-stealing. Tried at High Court, Aberdeen Dates 13 Apr 1842 Accused Robert Esson, Verdict: Guilty, Verdict Comments: Guilty in terms of own confession, Sentence: Transportation - 14 years.

Tried: 13 February 1842 Convict Death Register - No.7141, Death: 12 August 1842, Drowned at Table Bay, Cape Town, South Africa. (Many were suffering from Scurvy, the Waterloo entered Table Bay on 24 August 1842 for provisions and sank during a fierce storm)
