Thomas EVANS was convicted at Dublin City on 26 Dec 1840 for stealing lead and brass. 7yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the 'Waverley' arriving 13 Sept 1841. Ship Surgeon's Report - overseer's asst, conduct excellent. Single man; house carpenter; aged 21yrs; 5'8 1/2"; Roman Catholic; can read & write. Native Place - Dublin, Ireland. Mother - Anne Brother - Richard Sisters - Jane & Maria Assignments in Colony. 12 mths Probation period at Jericho, Tas. 20 March 1845: Ticket of Leave granted. 10 Nov 1846: Conditional Pardon granted.
