2 August, 1815 - Saunders Newsletter, Dublin 1 August 1815 at Sessions House, Greeen St. Owen Murphy and John Falkner accussed of stealing 8 bottles of claret, which was the property of their employer, John Bryne. They were working as porters. They were found guilty and John Falkner was transported for 7 years and Owen Murphy, "owing to his character, was burned in the hand and imprisoned for 12 months."

The record is a little confusing as the first date on the record is 1814! I think it was a mistake in copying, as he was in Ireland at that date, before his conviction. Many incidents on his record. Aug 23 1814. assisting convicts to escape from the colony, 500 lashes and to H. Labor for the Govt for 3 years. Nov 27 1817, Neglect of duty. Acquitted. Feb 20 1818, Drunk & disorderly, Reprimanded. Feb 25 1818, Absent from his lodgings at night. To work a double portion of labour for a week. Oct 16, 1818. Neglect of duty. To work for Govt for 1 week in his own time. Feb 11 1819. Stealing shingles, the property of the Crown. To make 1400 shingles for Govt. June 19, 1819, Drunk & disorderly. 14 days for Govt in his own time. July 20 1819. Entering and robbing H.M. Stores. 200 lashes & 3 years to Newcastle. Oct 4 1823. F.S. (Free by servitude)Assaulting Constable Molt Complet Dismissed. 18 Nov 1825. Assaulting J Maybrick.
