Colonial Secretary Index. FALLON, Stephen. Per "Earl St Vincent", 1823. 1823 Petition for rations he was deprived of during voyage (Reel 6059; 4/1773 p.147) ------------------------------------------------ 1823. To F. Golburn, Esq. Colonial Sec. The Petition of Stephen Fallon, Most respectfully sheweth that Your Honour’s Petitioner arrived in this Colony a few weeks since in the ship Earl St Vincent. That during his passage thither he acted in the situation of Boatswain’s mate, and that in that situation by his endeavors to render himself useful he had the happiness to gain the respect of the Officers under whom he was placed and had their promises of their endeavors to save him on his arrival. That during his passage hither there was 157 prisoners which were formed into 26 Messes which left an odd man in which situation I stood from the time of going on board until the 22 of August when a man died, which made exactly the 26 Messes. Petitioner begs leave to state to your Honor that during the time he was the odd man he had not this allowance of either Flour, Suet or Raisins which amounts to considerable quantity of each that Petitioner trusts that from his good behaviour of which your Honor has had information from the Surgeon of the Ship and that he never having had any renumeration for his faithful services that your Honor will not consider him intrusive in Requesting that articles may be allowed him he was during his voyage deprived.
