Martin FARRELL was convicted at Kerry, Ireland on 5 Jan 1857 for stealing 4 sheep. 7yr transportation sentence. Sent to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) per the ship 'Blenheim' arriving 2 Feb 1849. Aged 43yrs; farm labourer; 5'6"; Roman Catholic. Native Place - Co.Kerry. Only speaks Irish language. Married - wife Mary - died abt 1 yr ago. Two daughters also transported for same offence about 12mths ago (names not recorded). 1849: Application to Govt for family to come out to VDL. Refused. (notated on Conduct Record. ref. MM71/4) 12 Nov 1850: Conditional Pardon application - not approved. 1 April 1851: Application for permission to remarry - to Catherine DORAN (per 'Waverley'). 5 July 1852: Married to Catherine DORAN at St. George's Church, Hobart.
