1867, 15 January: Patrick Farrell, prisoner #2727, was received at Millbank Prison from Durham where he had been held for 15 days before his transfer. He was listed as 20, Roman Catholic, not able to read or write, single and a labourer. Convicted for manslaughter, he had no previous convictions and was described as “good” (in behaviour). His father, Benjamin Farrell, of Roscommon, Leinster, Ireland, had visited him in jail. He was sent from Millbank to the Hougoumont for transportation on 30 September 1867 (see UK, Prison Commission Records, 1770-1951; Millbank Prison; Register of Prisoners 1866-1867).
