ATTACK ON HOUSES, &c. John Feeny, Patrick Crystal, Patrick Dermott. and John Gillan. mere lads in appearance, were then put their trial for attacking the dwelling houses of Henry Ewing. James Ewing, and Samuel Boyd, taking therefrom fire arms, and administering unlawful oaths. Henry Ewing, sworn and examined, on the night of the 11th of September—was in bed with family—the door was shut and closed when I went bed—we were asleep when the party came to the door, between 12 and 1 o'clock at night witness first heard a man's voice, told me to rise and let him in—said. Henry Ewing I will not detain you two minutes ; did get up when heard a rap and forcing the doort hey did not get in until I let them, …. came in entirely—they were armed, the first man. Crystal, had a belt or white cravat about his middle, had no disguise—John Feeny was outside, and so was Gillan ... Sligo Journal, 2 Nov 1832. John Feeny. Pat. Crystal, John M'Dermott and Edward Gillan. for attacking dwelling bouses, robbing arms, &c., , Patrick Crystal (the Captain Rock of the deluded party) was sentenced to 14 years, and each of the other three to 7 years transportation.
