TRIAL: George Ferguson, son of Elizabeth Robertson, widow, aged 14, a sailor from Scouringburn, Dundee, was tried on 7 October 1831 at Perth on a charge of "theft, habit and repute" from Peter Strachan at Perth Road, Dundee. In his own words (on his VDL Conduct Record), he said he stole money from Peter Strachan. This was not his first offence. He had previously served time for the separate offences of stealing money and stealing sugar (see National Records of Scotland, Reference AD14/31/58; and https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON31-1-14$init=CON31-1-14p66). IN VDL: George received a Conditional Pardon on 7 October 1842 and a Free Certificate in 1845 (see https://stors.tas.gov.au/CON31-1-14$init=CON31-1-14p66).
