Family connections for David (Fitzgibbon) are: FITZGIBBON David (Fitzgibbon) was born about 1782 in Tipperary co. Ireland & became a labourer. He was living in Galway when tried at Cork Lent Assizes Ireland, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 9 8 1820 after a voyage of 4months on HADLOW. On 29 3 1821 he was sent to Newcastle (punishment?) on ELIZABETH HENRIETTA; he was 5'9" sallow complexion brown hair hazel eyes. In August 1821 he escaped to the bush & was adminstered 75lashes. In 1822 he was with No.1 road party. In 1825 he was servant to Hanry (Magee) at Minto. He was issued his Certificate of Freedom in August 1826. On 17 10 1828 he stole flour etc from Robert (Cooper), was held at Sydney Gaol, tried at Sydney Central Court Quarter Sessions on 21 10 1828 & sentenced to 1month hard labour. He married Ann/e (Gorman) with permission on 16/25 5 1829 at St Lukes CofE Liverpool. [Some details taken from this Website] Ann/e (Gorman) was born about 1800 & became a laundress. She was tried for stealing money at Dublin Ireland, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 10 7 1825 after a voyage of 4months on MARINER; she was Catholic. She is recorded in 1828 at the Factory Parramatta. She was issued her Certificate of Freedom on 1 6 1832. DISREGARD JOHN BEATTY INFORMATION ERRONEOUSLY POSTED TO FITZGIBBON. DAVID FITZGIBBON Indent of "Hadlow" - Native of Tipperary, 38 yrs old, 5ft 8in, sallow complexion, boron hair & hazel eyes 19 March 1821 - Sydney Gaol Entrance book - Committed by Sydney Bench. Sentence - 12 months to Newcastle 21 March 1829 - On list of prisoners transported to Newcastle per "Elizabeth Henrietta". 1822 general muster - Govt employ at no. 1 Road Party - LIFE 1825 General Muster - Govt Servant to Henry Magee, at Minto 16/8/1826 “Sydney gazette” page 1 - obtained Certificate of Freedom in last week’ 17 Oct 1828 - Sydney Gaol Entrance book - David Fitzgibbon, free, Committed for Robbery - Criminal Court Qtr Sessions 21 October 1828 - One month hard labour. Discharged 21 November 4 Nov 1828 - “The Australian” Quarter Sessions cases: David Fitzgibbons was indicted for stealing '' a large quantity, -to wit, one peck of flour, the property of his employer, Mr. Robert Cooper, on the 16th of October last, on which day, it appeared in evidence, that the prisoner was at work in the prosecutor's stores, where some barrels of America flour were housed. A fellow servant of the prisoner’s happening to light upon a hat lying in a concealed place, which he knew was the prisoner’s hat, and finding a bag containing something, had the curiosity to examine it. Whilst thus engaged, Mr. Cooper's overseer came up and asked the man what he had got. The latter, by this time, had opened the bag, and found it to contain about a peck, of flour, which Was recognised to be of American quality, and not the same as that issued to the men for their weekly rations. The prisoner was found guilty and sentenced one month's imprisonment.

Indent of Hadlow - Tried Clare, Lent 1819, Native of Galway, labourer, 50 years old 5ft 9inches, sallow complexion, hazel eyes. Ran from his government employment: Sydney Gazette 5th April 1822: “ John Beatty, arrived per Hadlow (2); 50 years old; native of Galway; 5 feet 9 inches high; eyes; silvery to grey hair; sallow complexion; and belonged to Watchmen's Gang.” 1822 Sydney Gaol Entrance Book “John Beattie or Brady” per Hadlow to Criminal Court 17th march 1823. To P.M. per “Sally” order of Court Judge 1825 General muster - at Port Macquarie. ?1828 Census No 12 Quarry Gang
