DEATHS. On the 18th instant, of consumption, at his residence, Davey-street, Mr. Daniel Fitzpatrick,in the 57th year of his age. Friends are informed that the Funeral takes place on Friday, (to-morrow, 21st instant,) at 2 o'clock. The Tasmanian Colonist, 20 Apr 1854.




Tasmanian Marriage Record. https://stors.tas.gov.au/RGD36-1-1p127j2k Daniel Fitzpatrick, convict, per Dromedary, age 27 years, and Jane Brown, Convict, per Morley, age 30, were married in the church of St Davids, Hobart Town, on 17 Nov 1823, by banns. Daniel signed his name, Jane with her mark X. Witnesses were Thomas Thomas and W. Worthy.




Daniel's older brother was William (born about 1792). He was convicted with Daniel of robbery and assault in August 1818. Both were transported for life. William however escaped the hulk Bellerophon. He was subsequently captured in 1823 and received 24 lashes. He was transported on the Phoenix (2) and arrived in Van Diemans Land on 21 July 1824.




DANIEL FITZPATRICK was born Abt. 1796 in Ireland, and died 18 Apr 1854 in Hobart, Tasmania. He married JANE BROWN 17 Nov 1823. She was born Abt. 1793 in London, England, and died 1855 in Hobart, Tasmania. He was convicted at Liverpool, England in August 1818 and was sentenced to transportation for life. He was transported on the ship, Dromedary, which departed England on 11 September 1819. The Dromedary arrived in Van Diemans Land on 10 January 1820 when Daniel was 24 years of age. He stood 5 foot 5 inches tall. He had dark brown hair and brown eyes. His face was pockpitted, he had a speech impediment and had lost his left thumb. Daniel died 18 April 1854 at Hobart (of consumption), aged 57 years, shoemaker. Information was provided by his daughter Louisa Anderson who was living in Davey Street, Hobart at the time. (RGD 35/1188) He fathered three daughters, Louisa, Rosina and Eliza.
