Trade, Stone mason bricklayer. DOB 1794, Native place, Newry Down Co. --------------------------------------------------- Highway Robbery. Patrick Fitzpatrick, was indicted for assaulting Daniel McConville, on the King's highway, taking from his person 10?. Daniel McConville sworn and examined — One Saturday night, eight or nine ...s ago, after Christmas, witness left Newry at ten o’clock ; the night was clear; when witness was miles out of the town, three men came running up, one whom was the prisoner, who knocked him down with rifled his pockets and forcibly took ? contained in a ?; witness was great terror, and when the robbers went away with their booty, he ran to Mr. Gourlay’s gate, but was refused admittance; after having concealed himself a ditch for a considerable time, witness went to prisoner’s father’s house, that he might get protection on his way home; witness lives about a mile and a half from where prisoner lived ; prisoner's father went with witness part of the way homeward, witness told him desire his son send home the money. — Never suspected any one but prisoner and the two men with him whom did not know; when went prisoner’s father’s house, he saw prisoner beside the door smoking, and his brother William, with one Neddy Dorp: Witness was not drunk that night; what would make him drunk ? had only got wee drop ...
