City Criminal Court. Pierce Fitzpatrick and Mary Fitzpatrick were indicted for counterfeiting on the 7th March 180 pieces of coins valued. 6d. Pierce Lyons Mayor’s Sergeant, and Matthew Parks, one of the Horse Police, proved the fact of their having found the prisoners in their house, No, 7, Abbey-street, with the coins and implements for coining in their possession. He informed the Jury that there were some cases in which the law looked upon the wife as acting under coercion of the husband. The Jury at once found the husband Guilty, but acquitted the wife. Cork Constitution, 25 March 1834. On Monday, Pierce Fitzpatrick was found Guilty of counterfeiting half-crown pieces. Northern Whig, 3 April 1834.
