Moreton Bay Convict Records Arrived at Moreton Bay on 22nd September 1826. Thomas Fitzpatrick, per Ann & Amelia, Tried at City Dublin, Dec 1823, 7 years, Sailor. Colonial Sentence: Gen. Sess. Sydney, 7 Jun 1826, Stealing a pair of trowsers, 18 months. To Sydney 22 Dec 1827. Description: Thomas Fitzpatrick, native of Dublin, age 35, 5 ft 2 ΒΌ in; Ruddy comp. Dark hair, grey eyes. ----------------------------------------------------- THE POLICE. ---000000--- TUESDAY, JUNE 6. - Thomas Fitzpatrick, prisoner of the crown for 7 years stood charged with stealing a pair of black cloth trowsers from the kitchen of Mr. D Maziere, the property of an inmate of the house. The robbery took place on Sunday afternoon last, whilst the servants were in attendance on the family at dinner. The prisoner was observed going out at the gate of the yard with a bundle under his arm, which excited suspicion, and he was closely pursued up the Rocks, until he contrived to get out of sight of his pursuer; from the information of a man who had met him running, and saw the direction he took, and was shortly afterwards apprehended, but not before he had thrown the bundle over a fence into a garden, and there the bundle was found with its contents and restored to Mr. Maziere's servant, who had pursued him. The prisoner declared he had seen some strange man throw the bundle over the fence, and denied that he had been on Mr. Maziere's premises; but the facts bore so strong against the prisoner, that the Bench sentenced him to be consigned to a penal settlement for the space of 18 months to labour.
