He became a second gunner & is recorded on 1 12 1798 as transferred from Captain (Haver)s detachment to Captain (King)s Company 1st Batalion Royal Regiment of Artillery. He was found guilty at Court Martial at Gibraltar, sentenced to 14years & sent to England w/3others on 15 6 1800. He arrived in NSW as a convict with Life sentence on 14 12 1801 after a voyage of 6months on Fleet ship MINORCA; he was Protestant. He married Henrietta (Langley/Scriven/Shewring) on 23 3 1807 at St Johns CofE Parramatta. He is recorded in 1828 as district constable with his family on 130acres Elderslie Upper Minto. He died on 16 6 1856 age75. [Some details taken from this Website] Henrietta (Langley/Scriven/Shewring) was born on 22 10 1787 at sea on LADY PENRHYN off Cape of Good Hope and baptised on 4 11 1787 at St Phillips CofE Sydney. She went to Norfolk Island with her mother on 4 3 1790 on HMS SIRIUS, recorded as arriving on 13 3 1790. She maybe returned to Sydney with her mother in Novenber 1794 on DAEDALUS. She died on 11 8 1828 age40 & was buried at St Peters CofE Campbelltown. He was baptised again on 19 5 1811 age3 w/John at St Lukes CofE Liverpool. He married Eleanor (Carroll) on 19/29 1 1827 at St Peters CofE Campbelltown. He died on 19 11 1877 age69. ..Eleanor/Ellen (Carroll) was born about 1803/5 & became a laundress. She was living at Kildare when tried at Maryborough (Port Laoise) Queens co. Ireland, sentenced to 7years & arrived in NSW as a convict on 20 8 1824 after a voyage of 4.5months on ALMORAH; she was apparantly sent to Parramatta Female Factory where she was not to be released until the ALMORAH had left Sydney. In October 1824 she was employed by Mr (Cordeaux). Court Martial was at Gibralter not on ship Gibralter On 1st December 1798 Edward Fletcher (aged 17) was recorded as being a Second Gunner transferred from Captain Havers Detachment to a Second Gunner in Captain Robert King’s Company in the First Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Artillery commanded by The Marquis Cornwallis stationed at Gibraltar. A note at the bottom of the July Muster – “Gibraltar 1st July 1800 – Alterations since last Muster …Second Gunners Geo. Barryman, Jno. Suddis, Wm. Smith & Edwd Fletcher sentenced 14 years. Transported by a General Court Martial embarked 15th June for England, paid up to that date and left out of Muster Roll.” WO 10/ 363,378 & 389 Archives Kew

In the colony, Edward married Henrietta Scriven or Langley, March 23rd 1807. Henrietta was the child of Jane Langley (First Fleet Convict, Lady Penrhyn, 1788) and had been born in Cape Town on the voyage of the First Fleet to the colony. Her father was probably the seaman, Peter Scriven. Edward Fletcher of the parish of St John Parramatta and Henrietta Skirwin were married in this church by banns this twenty third day of March in the year one thousand eight hundred and seven by me Henry Fulton. Both Edward and Henrietta made their X marks in the register in the presence of James Maler and Sarah Hore who both made their X marks.
