Alice died in 1825. Birth: Son, John FLINN born 1819 at Campbelltown, NSW James FLYNN widower to Eleanor WALSH widow December 1825. Both marriages gained FLINN 2 pubs and both women were the widows of publicans. Flynn did all right for himself. He had arrived in 1818 as a convict and shortly after married a widow, Alice Murphy, less than two months after her husband Stephen died. The Murphys had been amongst the earliest Rocks settlers, and Flynn thus acquired their St. Patrick's Hotel in Gloucester Street. This hotel stood directly opposite William and Eleanor's Lord Wellington, across Cribb's Lane, and the Walshes were witnesses to the Flynn's marriage. Both Alice Flynn and William Walsh died in 1825 (William's executors were fellow Rocksmen Thomas Dunne and Patrick Cullen), and six months after Alice's death, James Flynn married Eleanor Walsh. Having thus acquired a second hotel, he leased the first to another ex-convict Irish couple, James and Sarah Byrne. Years owned: 1818 - c.1827. In the 1828 census, James and Eleanor do not get a mention, and positive deaths have not been able to be found for them in NSW.
