High Court of Justiciary.  Thomas Forbes, charged with two acts of theft bv means of housebreaking, aggravated by being habit and repute a thief, pleaded Guilty.  James Cant or Kent, charged  with the same crimes, but without the aggravation, pleaded Guilty of the second charge; the Public Prosecutor  departed from the first, and restricted the libel. Forbes, who is mere youth, was sentenced to be transported for fourteen years, and Cant for seven years. Edinburgh Evening Courant, 17 July 1828.

got his Ticket of Leave on 4 July 1844 at Yass, where he continued to work as a labourer. He married Ellen Donohue on 13 June 1857 at Villa Maria Chapel, Tarban Creek (Gladesville NSW). Their son John was born 1 May 1858 and daughter Annie in 1859. The family moved to Ulladulla NSW where he was a Timber Cutter. Thomas died in February 1861, probably from a heart attack. He was 41. He was buried at the Weslyan Burial Ground Ulladulla
