William Forrest was an associate of David Haggart in 1820, and was arrested along with him on 1 March 1820 at an apartment in Johnston Street, North Leith. Haggart escaped from jail on 27 March 1820 and took William Forrest with him. They went to Dumfries, stealing and picking pockets on the way, and were recaptured a month later.
