COMMISSION INTELLIGENCE— JuIy 3. The Commission trials closed about seven o'clock, when the following sentences were passed : Thomas Foster, felony of wearing apparel, the property of Major Shirley—transportation, seven years. Saunders’ News-Letter, 5 July 1828.
Commission of Oyer and Terminer. County Calendar.— Thomas Foster, stealing several articles of valuable wearing apparel from Portobello barrack.— Mary Foster; for having the above goods in her possession. Dublin Evening Packet, 26 June 1828. TUESDAY John Foster and Mary Foster were indicted for stealing three full trimmed military jackets, value one hundred guineas, and several other articles from Portobello Barrack, the property of Major Shirley, of the 7th Hussars. The principal part of the above property, it appeared, was discovered by peace-officer Hartley at a pawnbroker’s in Phoenix street, and through the means of an accomplice, traced to one of the prisoners, who planned the robbery, and was instrumental in having them pledged there, and deposited in other places. The Jury found the prisoner, John Foster, guilty, and acquitted the female prisoner. When the fellow heard the verdict of the Jury, he behaved in the most daring and indecorous manner in the dock.
