Omagh Assizes. The following sixteen persons were capitally convicted, and sentenced to be hanged —no day fixed for their execution:— … for burglary ... ; … John Fox, for same at the house of John M ... Belfast New-Letter, 22 Aug 1817.


TASMANIAN CONDUCT RECORD Had a Ticket of Leave by 1820 15 July 1820 - absent from Sunday muster. Reported. 31 Dec 1827 - Tkt of Leave - Riding in his cart wthout a driver or Reny (??) to guide the beasts. Fined 10s 1828 Sept 11 - Tkt of leave - Stealing 11 cabbages and a number of cabbage plants out of government.at the farm at New town. To forgeit his Ticket of Leave NOW A PRISONER AGAIN: 1828 Sept 12 -being intoxicated in teh barrackslast night. 7 days [i.e. hard labour] 1832 -15 May Ticket of Leave - Keeping a dog unlicensed, fined 32 1836 5th July - T/L -Drunk. Fined 5s 1836 - 9th July - T/L - Neglecting to attend muster and church. Reported. 1836, 16th November - Conditional Pardon No 1150.


John Fox was Convicted at the Omagh Assizs, County Tyrone in August 1817 for burglary at the house of john McEldone. Was transported for life on "Minerva" after his sentence of death was commuted. Personal particulars: Aged 28 year on voyage. Born at Kildress, Co Tyrone. Labourer. 5ft 6&1/2 inches tall. Dark pale complexion, black hair, blue eyes. Minerva arrived at Sydney on 18 April 1818 and then went on to Tasmania with its convicts.
