Stephen Addison - Commander Michael Goodsire - Surgeon Superintendent [His wife was a passenger] 1842 - The Waterloo voyage of 1842 was wrecked on 28/8/1842. 189 people drowned, these being 143 convicts, 15 men of the 99th Regiment, together with 17 wives and children, the boatswain Mr. Chiverton, the sailmaker, the carpenter and 11 of the crew. Convicts were then received in Cape Town Prison from the wreck of the Waterloo, 2nd September 1842. They then completed their voyage to VDL per “Cape Packet” which arrived on 23/11/1842.

The convict indentures states that John Fox is 45 years old. He could read: religion Roman Catholic; status widower with 1 son and 1 daughter and is a native of County Kildare. He was a farm servant. John was convicted of manslaughter at Dublin City on 2 January 1836 and sentenced to life. He had no prior convictions. Physical attributes: Height 5 feet 6 inches; complexion dark ruddy; hair brown mixed with grey and eyes hazel. Transport number 49. Prisoner number 36-1854. Received Conditional pardon in 1844 (number 44/2908).
